As the Founder and President of XBASE Technologies, Robin Chow’s quest for knowledge in the technology field started very early. At the age of 12 while still attending Junior High School, Robin received early admission to George Brown College where he studied programming and microprocessor design. Robin is tapped regularly by industry leaders in the technology sector as well as other MSP’s for his ability to listen, interpret and solve highly complex problems. Robin derives great joy and personal satisfaction whenever he can draw on his over three decades of experience in the fields of business technology to help advise others on how to overcome challenges and obstacles in their businesses. He actively participates in professional organizations; and currently serves on the Board of Advisers for the International Association of Cloud and Managed Services Providers (MSP Alliance).
Stuart Demeter is a founding partner of XBASE, and has been working in the IT industry since 1983. He holds a BA with honors in Computer Science & Economics from York University, and is certified as an MCSE, VCP and VMTSP. Stuart Oversees our professional and managed services departments, and is experienced with a wide range of technology solutions, including virtualization, infrastructure design, implementation and business analysis. Stuart offers hands-on experience in multiple skills including programming, and is the technology professional our clients can always count on to keep their businesses running smoothly. In his time away from the office, Stuart enjoys hockey, travel and motorcycling.
VP of Administration
Jackie DeFreitas studied Accounting at Seneca College and has been with XBASE for 18 years. As our VP of Administration, Jackie is responsible for the overall well-being of everyone and everything throughout the company. Jackie handles the management of payroll, administration of benefits, billing, and human resources duties for our entire staff. She specializes in team-based hiring, ensuring that our staff members are a good fit for both our organization and the jobs they apply for. This has resulted in long-term staff retention and happy, friendly employees that our clients can depend on. In her free time, Jackie enjoys movies, planning dinner parties for friends and family, walks with her dog, swimming and travel.
Director of Software Development
As our Director of Software Development, Raymond Chan specializes in the development, implementation and support of various software products for both our clients and throughout our company. Raymond holds a B.Sc. in Management Information Systems from Central Michigan University and brings our team 18 years of IT industry experience. Raymond offers deep expertise in the Microsoft Software Development platform, relational database systems and SharePoint. He is certified as an MCSE, MCDBA, MCSD, MCTS, ITCP and I.S.P. He also handles business process reengineering, custom application development & implementation, as well as project management.
Senior Network Engineer
Adam D’Arcy is responsible for implementing and maintaining our clients’ network infrastructures, including switches, routers, firewalls and VPNs, as well as designing infrastructure solutions. Adam studied Electronic Engineering Technology at RCC and is certified as a CCNP, CCIP, CCNA, JNCIA, and JNCIP. Adam has previously worked as a network administrator, systems administrator and systems engineer. He offers our clients two decades of IT industry experience and extensive technical know-how.
John Van Berkum
Manager, IT Services
As our Manager of IT Services, John Van Berkum oversees both our Managed Services and Professional Services support staff. With a B.Sc. in Computer Information Systems, John brings our team 14 years of customer-facing IT industry experience. He specializes in problem resolution and decision support, and holds certifications including VCP5-DCV, MCITP Enterprise Administrator and MCSA Server 2008.
Senior Account Manager
– Project Manager
Gary has worked in the IT industry for over 20 years both as an internal Project Manager and a Consultant, implementing systems in a variety of industries. He has most recently worked for a Canadian manufacturing and R&D company, overseeing the installation of systems for manufacturing, field service, finance, as well as networking infrastructure. He holds a BMath from University of Waterloo.
He works with our clients on their short and long time IT planning, to ensure they have the right mix of services and products for their needs.
Gary leads XBASE’s SSAE16/18 program, both during the audit process, and throughout the year to ensure that XBASE’s services meet our clients compliance requirements.
Mark Slinn is a professional sales person, relationship builder, and advocate for our customers’ success.
Prior to XBASE, Mark sold managed IT services, professional services, software, hardware, office technology solutions, and participated in RFQ’s and RFP’s for both the private and public sectors.
Mark began his career in concert production providing sound, lighting, and video for various events throughout Toronto including the Molson’s Indy, the opening ceremonies of the Skydome, the Toronto Jazz Festival, and several concerts at the CNE Grandstand.
Mark has worked in B2B technical sales since 1989 for several professional audio electronic manufacturers and national distributors including: Bose, Sony, TOA, Biamp, Lab Gruppen, Tannoy, TC Electronic, Denon & Marantz.
Throughout his career, Mark has continued his education through various corporate training programs which included: large account management, sales training, selling the Sony way, presentation skills, negotiating, retail sales specialist, strategic selling, and the consultative approach.
In 2015, Mark graduated with honors after studying business accounting and payroll compliance.
Mark has a genuine interest in the creative and marketing side of business as well as continued education through independent study.
In his spare time he enjoys writing, playing guitar, playing drums, trying to sing, and he enjoys cooking too. (not everybody enjoys his cooking, but he enjoys it)
